Linguistic Landscapes

In the original program, one of the four days of the SSS7 was going to be dedicated to the theme of Linguistic Landscapes, featuring a workshop with Jeffrey Kallen, Trinity College Dublin. Unfortunately, Jeffrey has had to withdraw, and the organising committee has decided to replace this fourth day with some data sessions : more details will follow soon on the nature of these data sessions, but their goal is to allow participants to discuss issues encountered in their research with.

Consequently, the SSS7 will finish around noon on Friday 24 June: you can make the most of this time to spend some more time visiting Lyon, the surrounding region, or book your transportation home.

The organising committee has today contacted the 33 authors whose abstracts have been accepted by the scientific committee, and authors are asked to confirm their participation by April 25th so that the programme can be finalised as soon as possible. Oral presentations will cover the four main themes, New Speakers, Endangered Languages, Language Policies and Linguistic Landscapes, and will be complemented by the poster session as well as two Varia sessions.

Once we’ve heard back from those authors whose abstracts have been accepted, the program will be available here!

Evaluation of Abstracts

After two calls for papers, the Scientific Committee is now in the process of evaluating the approximately 50 abstracts we have received. The Scientific Committee is composed of :

  • Vaclav Brezina, Lancaster University
  • Victor Corona, Université de Lyon
  • François Maniez, Université Lumière Lyon 2
  • Tony McEnery, Lancaster University
  • Vincent Renner, Université Lumière Lyon 2
  • Cécile Viollain, Université Paris Ouest
  • Jim Walker, Université Lumière Lyon 2

Once the anonymous abstracts have been evaluated by the Scientific Committee, the final program will be decided, and authors whose papers have been accepted will be contacted by the Organising Committee. Notification of acceptance should be expected during the third week of April.
